Positive Sprouts focuses nutrition education and science exploratory opportunities in the garden. Nutrition and Wellness and Science in the Garden activities are provided for four age levels: 6 to 9 years, 10 to 12 years, 13 to 15 years, and 16 to 18 years. All activities are hands-on, with a focus on sensory learning.
Club gardens provide opportunities to connect with nature, learn skills in environmental stewardship, and improve habits of health and nutrition – all while enjoying the beauty and wildlife of a garden.
Amway and Boys & Girls Clubs of America are partnering to help Clubs nationwide improve children’s habits of health and nutrition through community gardening. Gardening provides the ideal mechanism to teach youth about nutrition; not only do children become engaged in the process of growing food for themselves, but they also appreciate the improvement in taste and texture detectable in their own homegrown fruits and vegetables.
